Today in Washington DC, a series of public hearings to show that President Donald Trump has abused his time in office and should be impeached for seeking political favors from a foreign power kicked off.

Democrats from the House of Intelligence are speaking up to turn both independents and Republicans against Trump, to show that he has committed “high crimes and misdemeanors.” Those testifying will be Ambassador Bill Taylor, the top U.S diplomat in Ukraine, and George Kent, deputy assistance at the State Department for European and Eurasian affairs.

Trump has been accused of “quid pro quo” in regards to withholding security aid while pressuring the Ukranian president to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden for an alleged Ukranian interference back in the 2016 election.

On this committee, there are 13 Democrats and 9 Republicans. According to NBC, the public will be hearing articulate people tell a story of a president who extorted a vulnerable country by holding up military aid. Republicans, on the other hand, will be focusing more on how the information that Taylor and Kent received did not come from direct communication with the president, but rather from other people. The estimated time of the hearing is unsure but according to NBC, it is expected to end around 2:30pm to 4:30pm.
