The NBA Is Back In July!

Updated: Jun 4, 2020

To all the amazing basketball fans that were missing the NBA, you don’t have to miss any longer because the NBA is back.

Beginning July 31st, the NBA will have 22 teams, 13 Western Conference, 9 Eastern Conference with 8 regular season games per team, 16 current playoff games and a possible play-in tournament for the 8th seed. The season plans on taking place July 31- October 12.

Commissioner Adam Silver and the leagues advisory/ finance committee have a plan in place for the teams to play at the Walt Disney World Resort and plan to have at least 2000 rooms available for the NBA.

Still taking precautions for the coronavirus, the NBA is planning to have daily testing within the Disney campus and if a player tests positive, they will be removed to quarantine and treat individually.

Also, according to ESPN, employees that work for Disney will follow protocols of no entrance upon players rooms and hallways will be managed to avoid crowding.

In the beginning of July, teams will train at their team site and then advance to full training camps in Orlando later on in the month. Both the NBA and National Basketball Players Association are still discussing details of the safe return to the game. A vote will be held tomorrow to ratify these decisions.

58 days until the NBA is back. The countdown begins.
